How To Apply A Hairpiece

Applying a hairpiece is really quite simple! The most common way to apply a hairpiece is to pull your hair back into a ponytail on the back of your head, and then clip the piece on using the attached clip or drawstring at the top of the hairpiece. Below are some diagrams on how this can be applied.

You can also wear a hairpiece underneath your own hair, or styled up into your own hair for a thick full up do… It's fun to play around with it and try out awesome new looks!

How To Apply A 3/4 Wig

Wearing a ¾ is extremely easy to do! It works similarly to hair extensions or a wig, only it looks completely natural and can be applied and removed without much hassle at all.

Firstly, part your hair over the top of your head from ear to ear… You can wear the piece closer to the front or back of your head if you feel like it, but for this example we can go right in the middle.

Once parted, pull your hair at the back nice and flat against your head using hairpins or a hair tie. Slide the combs in at the top along the part and secure until you have a nice snug fit. If you have fine hair, use a few hairpins to really fit it into your hair.

Pull the piece down at the back until the combs slide into your hair at the nape of your neck, and make sure it has a nice secure hold there also.

Lastly, brush your own hair back over the join of the piece, so that you can't see where it starts or stops. You can have your own fringe or bangs styled forward, or have it all slicked back over the top. Play around with it until you find what suits your face best!

How To Apply A Wig

Wearing a wig for the first time may seem daunting, but it is one of the easiest things to do! Simply put your hair up and out of the way - this can be done using a wig cap if you have longer hair, or using a few hairpins if your hair is shorter.

Then, starting at the front of your wig, place the front fringe part of the inside of the cap against your forehead, and then pull it back over the top of your head… sort of like a baseball cap!! The back of the cap (where the tag is) should sit at the nape of your neck where your own hairline finishes.

There are tabs on either side where your temples are, and you should make sure they are even and snug. Your wig should be worn on your natural hairline, approximately four fingers above the eyebrows. The back of the wig should be pulled down to the natural hairline in the back. Wigs have adjustable Velcro & elastic or hook tabs in the back so you can adjust your wig for a secure, comfortable fit. There are also small tabs in the front of the ears (temples) that can be adjusted with a small metal piece inside that can be bent to hold the wig close to the face.

If your wig feels too loose or tight, use the clips in the back base of the cap to tighten or loosen the wig. If you have a particularly small or large head, we suggest buying a product that suits your head size perfectly! If it feels fine but you would like a little added security, you can slide hairpins underneath the layers of hair and into your own so the hair cant possibly move!

After giving your hair a quick finger styling, it should be looking fantastic!! We have a complete section on our website which shows you how to style, set and wash your wig - or you can email us for more information!

Eyelash Application

Gluing something to your eye sounds a little scary, but it's actually a lot easier than it looks. After a couple of tries, you should have it down perfectly! Simply remove the lash from it's tray and hold by the lashes so that you can see the lash line.

Run a thin line of eyelash glue along the length of the strip, making sure you don't put too much on it.

Blow lightly on the glue for about 20 seconds or until the glue reaches a tacky sort of texture.

Tilt your head back a little, and look down so your eyes are almost close and gently place the lash down on the area just above where your own lashes are growing out. Lightly place it down in the centre first and then slowly let the edges touch.

Using the handle of a makeup brush, gently press down lightly on the join so that it's stuck down evenly all the way along. Keep your eyes semi closed, so that you don't open your eye and get glue on your eyelids!

Repeat with the second lash, and then allow a little moment for them both to dry. To help your eyelash glue dry quicker, fan your face with your hands as if you just won the Miss World pageant. If the movement of the hair still feels cold/wet on your lash line, the glue isn't quite dry.

Once your lashes are dry, open your eyes fully and admire your lengthy new lashes!! To help cover up the seam we recommend lining your eyes before application, and then sweeping a fine line of liquid liner over the join once you have finished!

Will My Wig Fall Off?

A lot of people ask if their wig will fall off. Usually, they are a first time wearer and haven't tried one on before. Once you have it in your hands and give it a quick try, you will realise how snug, safe and secure they feel on your head! They are adjustable for a snug tight secure fit, and if you think you are going to be wildly shaking your head about upside down, you can slide a few hairpins into the hair into your own for a really strong grip!

If you don't have any of your own hair, you can use an adhesive product or tape to ensure maximum hold. Monofilament wigs generally have tabs on the temples and front where you can place adhesives for a perfect grab.

Can I Wear My Wig In A Ponytail?

Wearing your wig in a ponytail should be absolutely fine! A low ponytail is recommended as the base/nape of the wig isn't going to look completely natural. The tabs around the ear area have hair on t hem and we would definitely suggest you pull a few strands down around that area to help cover any parts of the cap that could be peeking out!

Hiding Your Own Hair

Hiding your own hair to wear underneath a wig is relatively simple. If you have short hair, just pin it up with some hairpins so it's nice and secure. If you have longer hair, we suggest pinning your hair evenly over your head, and wearing a fishnet wig cap to ensure your hair stays up for the duration of your wig wearing! We sell wigs caps, but if you don't see the ones you need, just let us know!

Can You Tell It’s A Wig?

Generally, people don't expect your hair to be pretend, so people overlook the fact that your hair might be pretend. Some styles look more natural than others, and depending on the level of realism you are looking for. The hairline of a wig can sometimes look a little false depending on the style - a fringe/bangs helps hide the cap line in those cases. Lace front wigs are the most natural wigs in the world… even as wig sellers, we would have a hard time picking out a lace front from the others! They are the kind of wigs they use in movies etc to look completely real. See our Bases help section for more information on the types of tops you can have!

On a side note, if you buy a baby pink wig… You can probably tell it's a wig.
